How To Build Your Own Skateboarding Transition Curve
April 7, 2012 by Daniel Horne

Carpenters and amateur skateboarders have a wide variety of skateboard equipment that they can build. When you want to build your own skateboarding ramp, you should know that a smooth transition equals a better ride. The transition is where speed and angle come together to make a better ride from top to bottom. Using a simple geometric tool will allow you to build a fast and smooth transition.
A ramp with two transitions is the Half-pipe. A Half-pipe has two ends, each with its own transition, and a platform at the top of each end. The most popular type of skateboard ramp is the quarter pipe. A skateboarders quarter-pipe has only one transition much like the bank ramp but this version has a longer bottom. Launch ramps are two quarter pipes sandwiched around a straight angle ramp in the middle. Transitions offer skateboarders a smooth ride when built correctly.
Transition cuts require a pattern to be first drawn onto plywood before the plywood is cut. The tools you need include a long 2 inch by 6 inch board, a marker, a screw, and string. These will be used to draw out the transition curve.
The transition of a skateboard ramp is a feature that should be made with the right tools to create a smooth curve. The pencil and compass method of creating transitions is the easiest way to accomplish this part of the construction. Carpenters have used this method to produce cathedrals and domes and is the best way to build this equipment yourself
Put the plywood on a flat surface so that is oriented with its longest sides at the top and bottom. Put the 2 inch by 6 inch board down on the plywood and align one end of the board with the bottom of the plywood. The board must be longer than 6 feet 10 inches.
Bring the loose end of the string back to the base of the board at the bottom of the plywood. Tie a pencil to the end where the string meets the bottom of the plywood. Position the board so the edge with the string is 18 inches in from the end and use the pencil to draw out a curve onto the plywood.
Cut the string and tie a marker to the loose end so that the marker begins to mark the plywood at the bottom of the board. Drag the marker across the surface of the plywood to make a curve on the surface to cut later. You will need to keep the pencil end of the string tight enough to keep the pencil moving around the central pivot smoothly while drawing out the transition.
Each 4 foot by 8 foot piece of plywood can be cut two times using this transition size. When you want to build your own skateboarding ramp, you can get two transitions from a single board. To do this you will have to turn the plywood around or move the board, string, and pencil to the opposite side to mark the next transition curve using the pencil and compass method of drawing skateboard transitions. A perfect transition produces better ticks and a smoother ride in the end.

A Beginners Guide To Deer Hunting
January 18, 2012 by Daniel Horne
Deer hunting can be quite a daunting proposition for the aspiring or novice hunter. It is a sport that involves taking another life and hence should be approached with the utmost care and attention. Equipped with the correct amount of preparation, knowledge and apparatus it can be a very fulfilling pursuit.
The types of deer that are hunted is wide and varied. In North America, white tailed, mule, and blacktailed deer are sought depending on the location. In the United Kingdom, there are many other species including red, roe, fallow, muntjac and Sika deer. Hunting is done during seasons that are determined by locality and also by species. The beginner must be aware of the season dates for their region.
Stalking prey is a common way of hunting. Once a trail has been found, it is followed as quietly as possible until the quarry is spotted. Also stand techniques are very popular, a technique whereby the hunter does not move around but stays in a tree stand or a ground blind. The tree stand is made in the required area at a height, anywhere between two to fifteen feet. They are often situated at the edge of crop fields. A ground blind is usually some form of tent or hide that has been camouflaged. There is also still techniques where the hunter pursues the animal by following quietly and hiding when necessary.
Line drives can be utilized if hunting is done in groups, hunters walking in a line to drive the prey towards other huntsmen. Tree blinds and ground blinds can also be employed using this method. If the terrain involves large open spaces such as mountainous regions spot and stalk hunting can be used. In this case, prey is first spotted before being stalked.
Baits such as apples and potatoes can be employed to draw the game towards the hunter though this is not allowed in some areas. It can be advantageous as it places the animal in an ideal position for a clean shot. Where baits are not allowed scents and calls can be used as a lure. Scents can also be used to cover the hunters own scent. It is always advisable to sit in a location where your scent is blown away from the approaching animals.
Most deer tend to rest after feeding in the morning therefore getting up before dawn and ensuring the hunter is in their stand or blind before sunrise is good practice. They will begin moving again towards sunset so an afternoon to early evening session will also maximize the hunting time available.
The most common equipment to use for hunting are bows and rifle, however crossbows, handguns and shotguns can be used. The different types of weapons that are permissible can differ by region as well as having different seasons. Also a minimum calibre is required, for rifles this is . 243 to avoid any undue suffering to the prey. Whether it be bow, rifle or handgun it must be properly maintained and should at all times be operated correctly. A poor weapon or poor handling can result in the deer suffering badly or even cause injury to the huntsman.
Basically, practice makes perfect. The better one is on the shooting range, the higher the chance one has of bagging some game quickly and cleanly. Many hours practicing marksmanship from a variety of angles and positions must be endured before one considers going on an actual hunt. It should be utmost in the hunters mind that a quick clean kill is desirable. By paying attention to wind direction, being as quiet ans as still as possible, understanding your quarry as well as your equipment will all make for a more fulfilling deer hunting trip.

The Art Of Gold Mining
December 31, 2011 by Daniel Horne
Since the second century many people have been gold mining in one way or another. Some experts believe that mining was started in India. It is almost impossible to prove were it all began though. As the years have gone by various different methods have been used to varying degrees of success. During the gold rush in California which happened between eighteen forty eight and eighteen fifty five many new methods were discovered and quickly caught on with the rest of the world.
One of the first techniques used was the very basic method known as panning. Here people would fill a large shallow pan with gravel and sand which could contain the precious metal. The pan would then be submerged in some water and then shaken gently. The metal would quickly separate from the other materials and settle at the bottom. This is a simple and effective method but is not suitable for extracting large amounts of gold.
Another simple method that was commonly used is called dredging. This includes the use of a machine and a hose which was used to suck the materials from the seabed into a sluice box where the metal can be extracted. These days this method has been replaced by more effective methods but a few people do still use this, possibly as a hobby.
In years gone by the majority of people would look for gold by wading through riverbeds and using different techniques such as those already mentioned. This is mainly done by people as a hobby now because most of the worlds gold now comes from beneath the earth. To get to it large corporations spend a lot of money on technology and experts to help locate the areas to be mined.
These companies employ the use of geologist to help find the ideal areas for digging. They then expertly drill many hundreds of meters below the earths surface through hard rock. Gold mining through this hard rock produces the majority of our worlds supply of the precious metal.
There is no doubt that this is an exceptional metal which has a high value and also lots of different uses. During the medieval times it was used as medicine to help cure various diseases because it was thought that a metal this striking must be good for a persons health. These days it is used for whole host of things including fillings for our teeth and ingredients for our food.
It is a widely used metal and will be most notable for use in the making of certain jewelry. In many Asian countries it has a lot of religious importance. The versatility and importance of this metal goes even further. It is a high electrical conductive material and so is used in things like personal computers, televisions and many other electrical equipment.
The worlds supply of the most amazing metal seems to be endless but it has become less easy to find. New inventive ways of finding it will no doubt always be developed as technology advances. Mining is big business these days and the gold is more valuable than ever before.

The skateboards were created with wooden boards and roller skates stuck on the bottom. They looked like scooters. The wooden board had a milk crate and a handle attached to it for support. As time passed, the look was changed by removing the crate and started to use it on two by fours with steel wheels. You can imagine how many injuries occurred at that time, not having any protection. Some Of The Best Zombie Movies Of All Time
December 29, 2011 by Daniel Horne
Zombies are fictional beings that are depicted in films and television as undead people or reanimated dead bodies. Early zombie movies were initially listed as part of the horror genre but, with time, the undead beings became more of a celebrated device and garnered their own genre. Zombie movies are popular because they have elements like flesh eating beings, exciting plots, and a broken or a post apocalyptic society. While usually defined as horror movies, the films have been known to cross into other types such as comedy and action as well and the best 5 zombie movies of all time include examples of them both.
The movie that essentially started everything, “Night of the Living Dead”, is an independently made thriller that was written by the infamous George Romero in the late sixties. The movie depicts zombies as slow walkers and mindless beings who crawl out of their graves with an overwhelming hunger for living flesh. The story follows a group of seven survivors as they seek shelter in a farm house and try to live through the night. George Romero has sometimes been called the ‘Father of the Zombie” due to the movie which ultimately defined the sub genre and inspired a ton of others.
Romero’s second film in his zombie series was titled “Dawn of the Dead” and it was released nearly ten years after the first. “Dawn” is considered a sequel by the director and fans but only in that it contains the same slow moving undead, the location and characters are all new. The plot picks up shortly after the events of “Night” and portrays the United States as a crazed wasteland that’s overridden with unstoppable zombies and lacking in any real authority. The plot follows a small group of desperate refugees who decide to steal a helicopter to flee the city and end up taking shelter in a shopping mall.
In it, a small group of refugees steal a helicopter and take shelter in a mall. They live in moderate comfort among the building’s material goods as, outside, society collapses. In a scene that most fans state is the best in the genre, the mall becomes overrun with zombies and all but two of the survivors make it out alive.
Though not always counted as an actual zombie movie, Stephen King’s Pet Sematary is another good example. Based on a book of the same name, the movie is about a young physician who moves into a rural town in Maine with his small family. Through his next door neighbor, he hears about an Indian burial ground in the forest behind his house that possess the ability to reanimate the dead and he uses it to bring his little girl’s beloved dead cat back to life to ease her pain.
After the tragic death of his young son, the grief stricken doctor turns, once again, to Pet Sematary and ends up bringing back something evil and sinister.
The hit film “28 Days Later” is more of an updated take on the classic zombie genre. In it the antagonists are fast and agile as opposed to slow and stiff. Like Pet Sematary, it is sometimes excluded from the sub genre on account of the “zombies” not being technically dead but rather infected with rare virus. However, the film is a powerful and refreshing take on the genre.
This list’s final movie is one that helped to prove that comedy and zombies could exist peacefully together. It’s called “Zombieland” and it is about four loners who try to find sanctuary in a world that is filled with murderous undead. It also features antagonists that are more ferocious and faster and it manages to weave these elements into a story that’s both funny and dark.

Introducing Spider Solitaire And Solitaire Games
December 16, 2011 by Daniel Horne
The name “Solitaire” actually refers to a number of different types of games a person can play as an individual. Although the name more frequently refers to one-player card games, it can refer to other types of single player games as well, including board games, tile games, and some computer games. Spider Solitaire, Klondike, Peg and Mahjong Solitaire are just a few of the variations.
Often referred to as Classic Solitaire, Klondike is the most common form of the game. With this version, one deck of 52 cards is used with the jokers being removed from play. Cards are placed in receding sequence using off-color suits, and then placed in the upper right corner and placed in sequence again only in separate suits, and from ace to king this time. This game has many variations of its own, and is sometimes also referred to as Patience.
Mahjong Solitaire is a variant with which numerous patterned tiles are used instead of cards. The object of this version is to remove matching tiles from play, which in turn exposes the next layer of tiles. The game continues until all tiles are removed.
A very unique game that is often referred to as a version of Solitaire is Peg. With this game, the player is given a block of wood with holes or dips in it. Pegs or marbles are placed in all but one of the holes, and the pegs are moved to “jump” the other pegs. When a peg has been jumped, it is removed from the game. The player wins when there is one peg or marble left.
Spider Solitaire is a more challenging variation of the classic card game. Unlike other versions, the Spider version uses two decks. Both decks of cards are shuffled together and dealt into ten tableau piles. The object of the game is to place cards in receding order according to the suit. Although cards can be played “off Suit” in receding order, they can only be moved as a group when they are matched with the proper suit. To avoid problems later in the game, it is extremely important to try to avoid becoming blocked in with cards unable to move at all.
Playing cards “in suit” whenever possible, leaving as many spaces empty as is possible, and playing high when it is required that the player place cards “off suit” are just a few things the player can do to avoid a card block. When there are thirteen cards in receding order and of proper suit in a tableau, the cards are removed from play. The game is won when all of the cards have been placed in sequence and removed.
Beginners might be interested in one of the less advanced versions of the spider variant. One Suit and Two Suit use only one or two suits respectively, while regular Spider uses all four. These are probably the simplest versions. Black Widow is played much the same as regular Spider, except that the groups of cards are able to move regardless of suit, making this game easier to win than Spider.
Solitaire variations are not just popular amongst card players. Technology has placed numerous variations to the classic versions on the computer as well. These games can be played with pre-loaded software, separately purchased disks, downloads, or even online. With the assortment of numerous types and levels of the game, one is sure to find at least one variant that is appealing.
Spider Solitaire is a captivating game for online users. You can find this and other solitaire games in many forms.

Physics games are the secret building blocks to strengthening mind agility. Basic games are simple mind teasers that allow players to stimulate brain waves using muscles in the brain to solve various problems. According to Webster’s dictionary, physics is the science of matter, energy, and force. There are many ways to stimulate the mind using challenges and obstacles. These challenges can help people of all ages stimulate their brains and focus on solving problems.
History tells us that mind teasers have been played for centuries by the most elite scholars. The reason behind these challenges were for sport in which athletes displayed their athleticism, wisdom, and wit through a series of challenges. The more complex the puzzle used in challenges was, the greater the reward. The challenges played by our ancestors filled an important role in the development of the challenges many modern professional athletes face today.
The basic definition of physics games are activities that challenge you mentally through logic and reason. These mind teasers are not just virtual challenges, but they are a series of games that stimulate the mind through basic arithmetic. Bowling is a great example of a mind teaser, because it is a classic sport that requires the right amount of energy to be forced onto pins at the end of a lane to win.
Brain agility is brought on by the simplest of challenges done on a daily basis. These mental obstacles stimulate out of the box thinking to win games and challenges. The following information will help you better analyze and understand the mind challenges you come across in the future.
When playing, you should first review the challenge and the rules of the challenge you are facing. Think about the task the game is asking you to complete. Change your style of thinking by mentally producing ridiculous results or irrational ideas to help stimulate intuitive thought. Take a healthy snack break and regroup your thoughts from time to time.
By completing mind exercises on a regular basis, you may be able to improve your health and reduce stress. Many people who are feeling pressured would benefit from mind games by utilizing their energy to focus on positive brain activity.
People who constantly challenge themselves in mind sports tend to be smarter than the average Joe. If you start playing a mind teaser for an extended time period, you may even be able to document the improvements in your ability to think over time.
Men generally like these challenges, because men are stimulated by challenges and men often want to expand and dominate in all challenges they face. Women on the other hand are more successful than men at brain teasers due to their unique analytical minds. Mind challenges also help develop great leaders who can see the big picture of the scenarios they face in life.
